IELTS
IELTS (International English Language Testing System) is the exam used by
colleges and universities all over the world to assess whether a student has a
sufficient level of English to begin an undergraduate or postgraduate course. If
you want to study at an English-speaking university, our IELTS Preparation
courses are perfect for you.
Foundation IELTS preparation
This course is for students who want to study at an English-speaking university
and have an Intermediate level of English, or a 4.5 score in IELTS. The
Foundation course is the perfect way to start your preparation for the exam, as
it introduces some of the key grammar, vocabulary and exam strategies you will
need.
IELTS Preparation
This course is for students who want to study at an English-speaking university
and have an Upper Intermediate or Advanced level of English, or a 6.0 score in
IELTS. On this course, after learning the key grammar, vocabulary and exam
strategies, you will also do practice tests to gain experience of the exam. We
also assess your level before you take the real exam. On this course you will
learn:
- The strategies to help you pass all parts of the exam
- How to structure your discursive essays and connect arguments and ideas in
your writing
- How to describe numerical data and graphs in words
- Different reading and listening techniques
- The complex vocabulary you need to understand when reading and listening, and
produce in speaking and writing
- Idiomatic English phrasal verbs and expressions to help you sound like a native
speaker
- To perfect the clarity, rhythm and stress in your pronunciation
- How to pass practice past papers to assess your level before you do the real
exam
Combined Course
Students can also do an 18 hour per week Combined course of General English (10
hours) plus IELTS (8 hours).
IELTS Exam
We do not offer the exam at our centre, but we can help students book their exam
at the University of Liverpool.
